1st Woodville (St Stephens) Scout Group is located in Woodville in the Heart of the National Forest in South Derbyshire. The group has been running for over 60 years and celebrated our 60th anniversary in 2005. We play an active part in our district and community. Founded! in 1945 by Reverend Hurt, Reverend Hurt was the vicar at St Stephens Church between 1945 and 1959. The group just started with a handful of Scouts and now has grown to a thriving group of three sections and over 50 members, leaders and helpers. Beavers! started in 1984 and has been going strong since then, the Beavers are aged between six and eight and get involved in various different activities during their time in the Beaver Scouts. Cubs! started in 1945 and has grown, and still is. Cub Scouts are aged between eight and ten, they take part in a balanced program of badges and challenges. Cub Scouts also get involved in adventurous activities. Scouts! has been going since we started in 1945, it has changed alot since then with Scouts now being aged between ten and fourteen. Scouts have the chance to participate in activities outdoors and International Camps either abroad or in this county. 1st Woodville Scouts have been based at their current HQ since 1968, which was a rebuild of a earlier building from the Second World War. We have been found on our current site for over 50 years. |
